Jiangxiao + Shuai | Madison Engagement Session

Jiangxiao and Shuai are one of the sweetest couples you will ever meet. Jiangxiao got in touch with me about a month ago looking for an engagement photographer. He and Shuai are living and going to school in Madison, but will be getting married in China at the end of May! Shuai and Jiangxiao met in China while they were both in school, and when Jiangxiao came to the UW campus to pursue his phd, Shuai came with him.

It was fun to get to know them throughout the session and see how they got more and more comfortable in front of the camera. We started out at the UW Arboretum where Shuai has been volunteering since they moved here. She had some favorite spots, and luckily we had a beautiful sunny day (a bit chilly, but these two were troopers) to capture their love in such a beautiful setting. We ended at the UW Campus with just a few more pictures until they were all smiled out and we had more than enough gorgeous images. I'm so happy to have been able to get to know these two a little bit and to capture these photos for them in the places they have become so familiar with.

Enjoy!

Steph + Patrick | Madison Engagement Session

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Patrick and Steph for the first time in person! They are living out in California (ugh jealous) now, so I had only met them via the internet until Friday. They were major troopers sticking it out in the cold cold Madison weather we were having. Especially coming from the nice California temps. These two were so great to work with! We went to a few different spots around Madison including Olin Park, the UW Geology Museum, and finally we snapped a few final photos right outside the Camp Randall arch. The museum was probably my favorite part because I had never been - it was cool looking at all of the neat fossils (nerd alert), and it was also much warmer than outside haha. Whenever Steph and Patrick travel, they always make it a point to go to a museum together, so it was only fitting to include that in the engagement session. We had a great morning even with the cold weather, and I'm so so excited for their October wedding at the Madison Children's Museum!

Favorite Engagement Sessions of 2013

It's that time of year! Just like everyone else, I am reflecting on everything I've done in the past year. It has been a pretty big year for me. I made the decision to move my business from Chicago to Madison... I think that's probably one of the biggest decisions I've ever made, and I couldn't be more happy with it. This year I have grown so much in my photography and have really found my style. I love every single couple I've had the opportunity to work with, and I am SO excited for what is to come in 2014.

I wanted to share some of my favorite images from engagement sessions in 2013. Every couple has a unique love story, and an engagement session is one of my absolute favorite ways to capture their love. It's laid back and such a great way to get used to being in front of the camera. Not to mention it's a fun way for me to get to know each couple, and they get to know me. Some of my favorite images that I've taken this year were in these engagement sessions, and I am so grateful to my clients for allowing me to get to know them and to capture such an exciting time in their lives.
